The overall application, Ante, is expected to be a social networking site where users can become friends and share their favorite restaurants, bars, attractions, previously traveled trips, etc.… all in one location. This is a relatively different approach compared to other websites that offer reviews (Yelp, Tripadvisor, etc.….) as this application is used to connect friends with similar interests.
The origin of this idea started when I moved from Pittsburgh, PA, to Orlando, FL, and a couple months after the move, I had to find a dinner reservation for family coming to visit. I researched the familiar reviewer websites and could not distinguish a good-family restaurant location versus location that would be inappropriate for the family dinner. Instead of randomly picking a location, I reached out to two friends who’ve lived in the area for a while, and they were able to provide multiple locations that fit the family dinner atmosphere. It was a fantastic dinner and with this distinction and trusting my friend’s opinions over the reviewer websites, Ante was originated. Ante is an app that will allow friends to connect and share their favorite locations.
Currently, the app is still in development stages, but this project is showcasing what a potential profile template may look like when you log into the application. I created my own profile and conveyed my recommendations.
Next Steps:
In no specific order, the pending next steps for front-end development would be to create a home and login page for potential new users and solidify the profile template found in this project. Then, on the back end, the next steps would be to develop a non-relational MongoDB and template to link new users their unique dataset. Also, a secured server will need to be deployed for the MongoDB and provide a way for users to connect.
